Fix It Utility

Fix It Utility

A quick recap of the story so far. I thought I didn’t need a fix it utility, I thought I could repair the registry myself. I accessed the registry, deleted a file, and my computer would not restart. I took it to the local IT specialist who fixed it for a small fee of only $300.

Now that I had my pc back, I still had to repair the errors that were slowing down my pc. So back to the online research. Unfortunately there are many people on the internet trying to peddle their wares and it is hard to work out who you can believe and who is trying to take you for a ride.

But there are some well respected review sites on the net and all of them were highly recommending one fix it utility software. Errorfix

I decided to see if it was as good a repair tool as everyone was saying. So I downloaded the software and ran a free performance scan. The registry scan only took a few minutes but wow did it pick up some errors. No wonder my computer was running slow. I then upgraded to the full paid paid version which enabled me to repair the registry and remove the invalid entries.

I’ll give you a quick run down on the Errorfix utility.

First of all, I suggest you run the free performance scan. Click here to run the scan

The registry repair software is safe to load onto your Windows pc. It has been certified 100% clean by Softpedia and has received 5 out of 5 cows by Tucows.

Run the utility as instructed. It will quickly scan your hard drive and highlight the errors and junk files you have on your computer. Then if you want to repair these issues, you just click the repair button. Simple.

Errorfix also has a number of extra features which are not included in many of the other fix it utilities on the market. Some of these are:

* Internet and Network Optimizer (New!)
* Manual & Auto Error Repair
* Smart Disk Defrag
* Internet Add-on Manager
* Full Registry Backups
* Restore Point Maker
* Add & Remove Programs Manager
* Memory Optimizer
* Startup Program Manager
* Auto Updates

These extra utility features are a real bonus. The free tech support can be very helpful if something unexpected occurs and it is available via online chat 24 hours / 365 days a year. If I have an problem, I like to get it fixed straight away. I don’t want to have to wait a day or two for a response.

The restore point maker is handy. If you dont make a restore point, then make some changes which don’t give you the desired result, you can always roll back your pc. If you haven’t made a restore point you may be in a worse position than your were previously.

Having auto updates means you will always have the latest version. This saves you time having to check to see if the fix it utility has been improved as it will do this automatically for you.

I now run Errorfix once a month and I no longer have any pc performance issues.

Surely a fix it utility is just a nice to have.  Microsoft has provided me with a repair utility in the form of the registry editor, so why not use it.

After waiting forever for my pc to boot up, I opened the editor.  Now I must warn you.  Most of the sites that had infomation about editing your registry said BEWARE your pc may not recover if you delete or alter the wrong files in your registry.

But I had made a list of the start up errors and the run time errors that had been appearing on my machine so I thought I would just locate and remove them and then everything would be fine.

So I accessed the editor and started looking for the files related to the errors I was getting.  The registry in your computer is normally rather large, but there is a handy find feature.  For some reason though, it was not finding the files I was looking for.

What seemed like hours later, after trawling through the files manually I found one of the strings I was looking for.  I highlighted the file and pressed delete.  I shut down my pc and re-started it.

But it wouldn’t boot up properly.  All of my photos, including the ones of my newly born, first grandchild were on the machine.  I foolishly hadn’t backed up.  Would they be lost forever?

Maybe I should have just bought a fix it utility and taken head of all the warnings I had read that said “Do not edit the regsitry unless you definately know what you are doing”.

So I packed it all up and took it to the local pc expert to see if he could fix it.

A week later the guy rang me with good news.  He was able to restore my registry and the bill was only $300.  Cheap really when you think about all of the sentimental and personal information you end up storing on your pc.

My pc was suffering from lots of errors, but did I really need to use a fix it utility that you can download from the internet?

My computer was having lots of Windows start up and runtime errors.  I was of course worried about been faced with the “Blue Screen of Death”.

I thought to myself, I’m not stupid.  Editing the registry can’t be that hard.  So I started researching online the best way to repair the registry.

Little did I know that this was not going to be an easy task.  After reading every piece of information I could find, I was still confused as to what changes I needed to make to the registry and would my computer every recover from my manual editing.  Maybe a fix it utility would be easier, but hey, it can’t be that hard right?
